Common Core Legislation Before Committee on Monday

Please contact members of the EDU Committee and urge them to support L.D. 1492!

Monday, January 11, the Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs will hold a hearing on the critical Common Core Repeal Bill – L.D.1492 at 01:00 p.m. in COB Room 202.  Sponsored by Representative William Tuell (R-57), L.D. 1492 would give schools the choice to repeal the Common Core State Standards and return to the pre-Common Core 2010 Learning Results.  The bill would also create a local stakeholder group to review content standards.

As parents around the state know, Common Core State Standards have failed our K-12 students miserably and decisions regarding the future of these standards should be left to the school districts to decide.  We would like to encourage you to attend this hearing or contact members of the committee in support of L.D. 1492.

If you are tired of politics as usual in Maine and have an interest in advancing the conservative agenda in 2016, The Maine Heritage Policy Center needs your help!  As the legislative session kicks off, we are looking for ongoing volunteers in your community to build up our grassroots effort and ensure that your voices are being heard in Augusta on this matter and others!

For too long, conservatives have sat back as Maine progressives went on the offense.  It’s time for conservatives to stop playing defense.  If you are interested in joining our network of community volunteers, please contact Michael Quatrano at mquatrano@mainepolicy.org.
