ObamaCare Admits How Expensive Maine Health Insurance Is
Today, the Obama administration updated its Healthcare.gov website with health insurance premium (price) information. I decided to check out the premium information for Maine, as I had been reading how Governor Baldacci, Obama’s top health reform official, and even Maine’s own Insurance Superintendent hold up Maine as the model for ObamaCare.
I agree. Maine’s Dirigo disaster does foretell the future if the next Congress does not wholly repeal or substantially replace ObamaCare.
But the proof is in the premiums….
According to Healthcare.gov, the premiums for Maine health insurance plans for my family start out at $2,156 per month or an astounding $25,872 a year, with just 2 plans available.
Yet, also according to Healthcare.gov, the premiums in New Hampshire start out at just $411 per month or just $4,932 a year, with 38 plans available.
Maybe Maine is not the model if the goal is to lower health insurance costs.

Thank you, Tarren, for again a concise explanation of the insurance mess in the state. I wish that you guys would spend at least as much time explaining to the the people how Baldacci and the legislature, changed the will of the people with LD1811. I think it is kind of cowardly for the Policy Center to ignore the CONSTITUTIONAL right of citizens initiative being stolen from the people. You testified at hearings this past year about how important the citizens initiative is and how the legislature should not change the law to make it harder for the people to pass laws that they want or need. But, on the issue of Medical Marijuana you sit by quietly, cowardice is unbecoming of PATRIOTS, stand up for what is right or be defined as just another bunch of worthless political talking heads. The CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to self govern was taken from 60% of the people of this state, Because, in the opinion of the Legislature, emergency legislation had to be passed because the PEOPLE did not know what they were doing. That is ridiculous and wrong and you guys know it But you wont say anything cause it is a social issue?? The Marijuana business in this state is large and will grow it is an economic issue and an issue of our constitutional rights being taken, see 4th and 5th, amendments also please review Maine state constitution. You fight for economic and constitutional issues? Are you really a bunch of Hypocrites? Do you really think it was right what was done? John Stewart

SOOOOO well said. What can we do to help voter's to get your message ? Who should we vote for ? Who should we NOT vote for? It's a bit late to try to educate myself since there's so little time left to vote but I've had enough. This is NOT what we voted for but they seem to have gotten away with it. THEY ARE LAUGHING AT THE VOTERS AND HOW EASY THEY THINK WE ARE TO TRICK INTO BELIEVING WHAT THEY ARE TELLING US. What can we do to expose them to the voters . If I can tell 5- 10- or 15 friends and they can tell their friends, and them there's, we might make a_ difference. I am mad but I don't know how to best use that anger. What is jury nullification and how can it help the movement? It would be awesome if someone could create a web page that would not only teach us what is really happening but also what we can do about it and what we can do to expose, as well as praise, those that are responsible for making those things happen or not happen. A web page that could let readers print and copy well written explanations about what is going on and what we can do about it. The web page could give reprint rights to anyone who wanted to print 100 -1000 - 2000 - 5000 - or more copies and pass them out, mail them, out or otherwise distribute them. The news stations / papers will ALWAYS report the government side of the stories but often fails to tell the people's side and the government knows this and exploits it. We need a way to reach more people and a way to do it inexpensively and effectively. If such a page existed, I for one would consider donating the small amount of money it would take to reprint the first few thousand copies as long as I knew they would be actually passed out. Time for the power trip to end and for the voters to be heard. What can I do
