Businesses throughout Maine are closing their doors due to Governor Janet Mills’ heavy-handed response to the coronavirus. Maine Policy believes there’s a better, more inclusive path forward that adequately balances public health with the state’s economic wellbeing.

There are only two ways Governor Mills’ emergency powers can be removed: she voluntarily gives them up, or the presiding officers call on lawmakers to reconvene and pass a resolution stripping her of her powers.

Lawmakers should reconvene with an agenda that directly addresses the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Mainers deserve a voice in the state’s economic recovery. It’s time for us to reclaim our government.
