Help Reduce Electricity Costs for Maine Ratepayers!
Lawmakers on the Energy Committee are considering two bills, LDs 1347 and 1778, which would immediately reduce electricity costs in Maine by eliminating net energy billing and ending favoritism for wind and solar over other energy sources. Maine’s Public Advocate stated that net energy billing is “the equivalent of a $275 utility tax per year on every CMP and Versant ratepayer.” It’s essential that lawmakers scrap this policy and open up Maine’s market to all types of energy.
