Please join Maine Policy Institute as we welcome the Honorable Gary Palmer, Alabama Congressman, Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee and member of the House Freedom Caucus. The event will take place on August 19, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, where Mr. Palmer will be discussing the policy agenda and how it is shaped in Congress, as well as the importance of think-tank work and how state-level solutions can translate into national change.
The Honorable Gary Palmer was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2014 and represents Alabama’s sixth congressional district. Palmer is a leader in conservative policy and chairs the House Republican Policy Committee, serves on the House Committee of Energy and Commerce, and is a member of both the Freedom Caucus and the Republican Study Committee. He also serves on the Subcommittees on Energy, Environment and Climate Change, and Oversight and Investigations. Throughout his time in congress, Mr. Palmer has achieved an impressive voting record earning him a ninety percent rating from Heritage Action for America.
Prior to his rise to the United States House of Representatives, Palmer co-founded and served as president of the Alabama Policy Institute (API) for 25 years. API is the Alabama-based counterpart to Maine Policy Institute and has achieved major wins for free market, conservative reform and it now stands as a leading think tank advocating for limited government in its home state. Palmer holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Mobile. He and his wife Ann live in Hoover, Alabama and have three adult children.
