STOP THE NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE COMPACT
Maine lawmakers have approved a bill – LD 1578 – that would enter Maine into the National Popular Vote compact. As a result, Maine would no longer award its Electoral College votes to the candidates whom Mainers vote for, but rather who the rest of the country supports. This switch would effectively silence Mainers’ voice in presidential elections and give it away to the residents of the most populated cities and states in other parts of the country. The bill now sits on Governor Mills’ desk where she can sign or veto it.
