Stop the Inspection Fee Increase!

Lawmakers are set to vote on LD 900, a bill that would increase the annual motor vehicle inspection fee to $20. The bill would also create a mandatory digital inspection system, meaning Mainers would be bound to the first opinion of the mechanic where they bring their car for an inspection, regardless of whether those repairs have any bearing on the overall safety of their vehicle. This new requirement might also force small shops not to participate in the program, forcing Mainers to drive long distances for inspection services.
