My granddaughter attends Turner Primary. Ms. Burdin refused us to bring a window unit into her classroom, which, Ms. Burdin, Superintendent, addmited to be the HOTTEST room in the school and Heat Index in the 90's and above. Yet, her office sits on 14-16 window units and Leavitt High has Central Air. Ms. Burdin's office was left with a few units running in the BASEMENT over the 3 day holiday weekend as well as Leavitt High school. I say, we DEDUCT this WASTE from her payroll of $99,000 and see if she'll comply with parent's demands in regards to the HEAT WAVE, which affected so many children and faculty. They are not WILD ANIMALS to be treated with such UNDESIRABLE CONDITIONS. It's totally UNACCEPTABLE AND INHUMANE! In addition to units running over the 3 day holiday, there were five offices in the Superintendent's BUDGET MANAGER'S office with the lights left ON over the 3 day holiday weekend. WHAT A WAST OF TAX PAYER'S MONEY!! Ms. Burdin also refused donation solicitation from my daughter and myself, we offered to start an "EMERGENCY FUND RAISER" to acquire air conditioners for ALL of MSAD#52!!! Yet, she sits in her cool office and the hell with the children and faculty, who work deligently and long hours to educate our children, who are the FUTURE! I personally took a thermeter and the indoor temperature was over 90 degree in the school as well as the Principal's office. Federal Laws need Reforming to give these Superintendents sanctions as they are making poor choices when it comes to "HEAT WAVE." in Maine schools. I say, lower their salaries, and let's get air conditioning going in these schools. I am now an advocate of MSAD#52 and will do everything in my power to see that our children in this district are in better air quality next HEAT WAVE, the heat index will only go higher not lower. MAINE SUPERINTENDENTS HAVE TO WAKE UP! We are living the 1930 Heat wave, back then there was no A/C but this is 2010 and it's A NECESSITY! Respectfully, Rosa Pettengill, Advocate for Children MSAD#52

what's even more disgusting is our tax $'s are paying for this work of art bit*h to be in charge of our children!!!! it needs to stop!!! WHO PUT HER IN CHARGE AND WHY!?

Les, you're absolutely right! She's a piece of art, who lies to her teeth and smiles!! She has literally VIOLETATED children's Civil Rights in regards to caging them like wild animals during the HEAT WAVE and making the statement; "Not one child was sent home during the hot temps. The janitor opened windows to let fresh air in, they were moved around, given popsicles and drank lots of water." I opened my windows too at 3:30 a.m. and by 10 a.m. my house was an inferno-80 and humidity 55% . I personally took a thermometer to Turner Primary and it registered 90 degree indoor temp! My daughter and I also spoke with many parents, whose children were being picked up due to heat stroke. They were vomiting, complaining of headaches, nausea, pale looking, trenched in sweat above the norm, my granddaughter was one of these students! Yet, Ms. Burdin has the audacity to make that statement! SHE HAS INSULTED THE INTELLIGENCE OF EVERY PARENT, who picked up their sick child due to the Heat Wave. I wonder if the nurses in MSAD#52, will cover up for her on the "witness stand?" She refuses to release the number of students, who went sick during the HEAT WAVE. I've asked her for numbers, not names and she has yet to provide this to me! It's a JOKE she expects me to pay $15-$20 an hour to do research in her office! She's already WASTED my tax dollars, leaving her A/C "ON" during the 3 day holiday weekend! What a WASTE of our tax dollars this woman is!

I don't know why Ted Sharp is number 8 - we have only 5 schools & 2900 students - he has delegated everything and rarely takes parent calls! I don't feel that he has improved our schools, only cut and added layers of politics! For example for years parents have been asking for a reverse 911 system after a boy threatened to bring a gun to GMS - that was probably 4-5 years ago - now they are finally taking steps to implement a system. We need a leader that listens to parents & gets things done - he doesn't!

Hey Maine "Freedom" forum. I will refrain from my standard statement that any group with patriotic sounding names has very little to do with patriotism and much more with pushing an agenda. However, if you are going to compile and present a list like this, please take some pains to update it and/or remove inaccurate information. If you aren't willing to do a little simple legwork, then your efforts turn out to fall flat.

i think most of these figures are outrageous there is NO WAY its worth this ammout of cash especially when a half dozen or so at the bottom dont get paid at all and it doesnt matter if its 5 students or 50,000 i think the maximum salary earned by any one of these supers should be no more then 80k per year considering most of them are married and have secondary forms of income your looking at maines elite being responsible for one of the worst education systems in the country....i know one of these supers personally and understand that he is a great educator and advocate of children but do i belive he deserves to sit with maines top 5% of earners ( accounting added income) being paid more per year then some of these schools even have to budget with.....insane

These people are doing CEO jobs and not receiving CEO pay. Saying they aren't worth any more than $80,000 is ridiculous. These positions require Masters and Doctorate Degrees and lots of administrative experience before being hired. Brewer School System has an annual budget exceeding 20 million dollars. Typically someone in charge of that much money is earning three times the amount of these Superintendents. Have some respect.

the brewer school system in 1.5 million in debut and they had to cut 20 jobs over taking a pay cut?!? for someone who cant even keep their budget straight those they sure didnt get alot out of that master degree it is a waste of money they dont know what they are doing for the dumbist state in america they do not desverse any respect at ALL!!!

public servants shouldn't make that much, put that money into the schools and get rid of the super job. stop the increases and benefits and eliminate the position all together... we really don't need them. that would bring back all the arts to the schools and teachers. too many chiefs in Maine not enough workers.
